Here is a list of the resources we used, videos we watched, and activities we did in our study of the United States of America.
Every time we begin our “travels” to a new country, we always do the same 5 things:
1) Find the flag sticker for the country we are going to travel to, and stick it in our
2) Set up a pretend airplane and sing our "All Around the World" song as we pretend to fly to our destination.
3) Assemble our first travel book page, with the name of the country, the flag, country outline, and the pictures of people dressed in traditional costume.

4) Have a fun little country themed scavenger hunt! (featured below)
5) Assemble our second travel book page. Although, this page we usually do on our LAST day of learning about the country, since the kids like to pretend that they took all these pictures while they were visiting the country, so this second page is a place for them to “scrapbook” their memories of what they did on their adventure.

Where Is the USA?. In this fun and educational video, we’ll learn where the United States of America is on the map, the countries that surround it, and cool facts about the country.
'The United States of America' Geography and Culture Song. Written in a traditional style of American pop music, this song gives a basic overview of the geography, culture, landmarks, icons, and famous historical figures of the United States of America.
Hogie Goes to New York. New York is a big place, with lots of things to see and do. Luckily for Hogie he makes friends with Marie who shows them around. And luckily for Marie she makes friends with the gang who might just be able to help her figure out an angle for her school project.

Hogie Goes to Texas. Hogie has lots of preconceived notions of what the Wild West should look like, so when they meet Mandy on her modern day ranch, they are a bit surprised to find out that things are not how they imagined.

Exploring New York | Dinosaurs & Ice Skating Fun. In the giant city of New York, Rosie and Julian visit the Natural History Museum to see gigantic dinosaurs and skate in Central Park.

Francis Scott Key: The Poet Behind the Star-Spangled Banner | Leo & Layla. Do your children know how our national anthem came to be? Teach them with this time-traveling animated video about Francis Scott Key, the young man who became inspired to write a poem known as the “Star Spangled Banner” when he saw the American flag still standing after the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812.

The Brave Story of the 4th of July | Dr. Binocs Show. The Fourth of July celebrates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The Declaration announced the political separation of the 13 North American colonies from Great Britain.

Fireworks Salt Painting. Fireworks salt painting is such a fun and easy craft idea for New Year's Eve, 4th of July, or any other fireworks holiday! With a little bit of salt and glue you end up with colorful puffy shapes with an awesome texture! These salt painted fireworks even stay puffy after they dry. It's such a fun process art project!

Fourth of July Drone Show for America's 250th. Sky Elements flew a 2,500-drone show in North Richland Hills, Texas to kickoff the nation's Fourth of July celebrations.
